Updates.

So what's been happening lately? Blackberry announced the 9700,
Android is trying to overtake the iPhone, my iPhone gave me a bit of a
scare when it froze and wouldn't reboot. Dyson came out with a new
"bladeless" fan and I used the Dyson Airblade for the first time.

I've been looking at houses without much success, finally got my name
placard at work and got two non-functioning iPod cables from Deal
Extreme.

There's your update.

Female Behaviour Men Will No Longer Tolerate

1. You say to us, "You're not romantic anymore." Fine, we'll try
harder. But only if you agree to initiate once in a while, too. Deal?

2. Then there's "You never listen." This is not an inherently male
trait. I mean, how many times does a guy have to explain the
infield-fly rule?

3. No, you don't look fat. Did we mention how you never listen?

4. If you ask our opinion, please don't get mad when we give it. The
color of the curtains shouldn't be a referendum on our relationship.

5. It's just a spider, for Pete's sake. Step on it.

6. We worked a 60-hour week, took out the garbage, did the dishes,
paid the bills, walked the dog, changed the oil, picked up the dry
cleaning, read to the kids, and gave you equal time. All we're asking
for is 3 hours on the couch on Sunday.

7. No more deflecting responsibility for crummy behavior with cute and
kittenish responses. You can't giggle your way out of trouble anymore.

8. You know damn well what we're doing in there. Stop asking.

9. Forget the notion that raising kids is harder than maintaining
gainful employment. More important? Yes. But harder? No.

10. If you continue to dump on our best friend, we will probe the
(many) character tics of all your friends.

11. If you want to have kids, you have to have sex. This is not a
complaint. This is science.

12. Somewhere, somehow, women were sold this idea of "fashionably
late." Men don't get this. Make up a fashion emergency if you must,
but don't ask us to be intentionally tardy. It's like asking us to
kick the host in the groin.

13. Yes, that woman is hot. Yes, we appreciate beauty. That's why
we're with you.

14. We do listen. And empathize. But when your troubles have been
analyzed until there's nothing left to talk about, can we please stop
talking about them?

15. If we fell in love with you when you had long hair, we're going to
want you to keep your long hair until death do us part. We'll beg, but
would prefer not to.

16. As for commitment ultimatums, just address numbers 1 through 15 on
this list, then we'll talk.

Thanksgiving glow

Daunted no longer

Well, after being daunted by a piece of .NET code to make a factorial, I'm finding the rest of the coding to actually be fairly easy. Reiterations aren't my strong point it seems, but I'm fairly confident that I can make pages do what I want them to do now.

I think that learning about ASP.NET is also going to help me in my PHP endeavours. I think I can probably charge a bit more upfront for a PHP site since the ASP.NET sites will have a higher residual cost due to hosting.

I just skimmed through an entire chapter in this book in about five minutes BMI calculator included (with some snazzy upgrades) since I already know about HTML properties and what not. It's satisfying to look back at something and realize that the concept you had a problem with was the exception to the norm. It's even more satisfying to retrospectively understand it.

Forex?

I've recently come into a small balance of cash that I'd like to try investing. It's throw away money really, but enough that I could leverage it up into a decent amount in a small amount of time.

Anyone have experience with Forex or a similar system? I was thinking about using Paypal to do this, but the exchange rates they provide are always horrible.

What's your system?

Hey Obama

I'mma let you finish, but let me tell you, George W Bush had the best videos of all time.

Factorial Code for VB

Man did I ever just have tough time writing a piece of factorial code. The trick is that it keeps feeding it's result back into itself and that is where it gets the new value. Then it'll keep looping until it reaches your "if" statement that returns a result of 0.

What a bitch of a time getting that logic to spit out of my head though!

Whiteboys and Orangemen

Interesting little diddies. Now I know what Everlast is saying when he says "the Whiteboy is back"

Survey Says:

Croyez-vous que les femmes peuvent se faire agresser sexuellement par leur mari, conjoint ou partenaire?

Which translates to:

Do you think women can be sexually assaulted by their husbands, spouse or partner?

The survey question seems to be quite leading. Why not leave it at "Do you think women can be sexually assaulted by their domestic partner?" By putting "male" as a variable in this equation we are further ingraining the male as a dominant player in society meant to be taken down a few rungs. Why are we not empowering women to achieve the same status. After all, it's not only the "husbands" who abuse. This I know first hand.

So on the flip side, do I think men can be sexually assaulted by their domestic partner? Yes. Sexual assault should be expanded to include acts where you place your monogamous partner's health at risk. Cheaters male or female open a vector for all manner of STIs, condom or not. A precedent has been set to charge people who willingly attempt to spread HIV, why not expand it to include people who willingly open the gates to everything?

Unwanted children born of an affair This is an abuse both to the partner and to the child/siblings of that child. It's illegal to smoke with your under aged child in the car, why should it be legal to introduce strife into your child's home or bring a child into that strife? Both will have long lasting health effects. The only difference being that tobacco has a target, the tobacco companies. No one advertises cheating on your partner. Or do we...

Some can say the above paragraph infringes on your basic human rights. Lets go over what the United Nations has outlined as basic rights to be provided to children:

Provision: Children have the right to an adequate standard of living, health care, education and services, and to play. These include a balanced diet, a warm bed to sleep in, and access to schooling.

Protection: Children have the right to protection from abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination. This includes the right to safe places for children to play; constructive child rearing behavior, and acknowledgment of the evolving capacities of children.

Participation: Children have the right to participate in communities and have programs and services for themselves. This includes children's involvement in libraries and community programs, youth voice activities, and involving children as decision-makers.
In a perfect world no one will be subject to abuse and discrimination because they born of a different father or mother than their siblings. In our world this right of protection is infringed upon every day in every community in the world. All beginning with infidelity. In some developing nations the discrimination goes as far as an execution.

Perhaps society is not becoming progressive, but regressing to a pillar of salt waiting to happen.
